About the Artist
Travel has become the inspiration, but art is the medium of self-expression for this Canadian artist. Living in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia where beautiful landscapes and distinctive seasonal changes stir the creative spirit, Norma Thomas has expanded her horizons to include representations from different climates and cultures. The opportunity to see many of the world's great paintings has been a gift that challenges her to strive to capture the essence of each new subject. Her goal is not just to preserve a memory, but to share some beautiful moments with others. She enjoys interpreting the beauty of nature in landscape, floral and still life paintings and finds a world of inspiration in urban scenes of everyday life.
The desire to learn the art of painting has been fostered by membership in the Federation of Canadian Artists, where workshops from many notable artists have positively influenced Norma's journey of discovery. The affirmation of being juried into art shows has been a welcome guide on the way to greater creativity and self-fulfilment.
